Kapa haka

 It was kapa haka day and I was a Kaia.It was the first time being a Kaia,and I was so nervous.I zoomed through the school gates because I was a bit late.Into the classroom and I got my moko on then get my bodics on in the hall.When I came back into the classroom I was nearly ready to go but I still had to get my golden feather in my half up half down hair.Finally everything was ready,time to do the video.I was really sad Mum and Dad couldn't watch live.

It was about time to start performing.Our first song was Utaina and I was calling the first command.We sang and did the actions beautifully.Our Next songs were Ka waiata,Rona,Kapanapana,haka and Toia.Ithink toia was my favourite.After the last song we had to get out of our dresses the go to the green team play at Ilminster.I loved kapa haka and I want to share the video of it.

 Students from Ilminster made a play for us and this is how it went.Firstly Nanny Kora came out with her moko and Kina. Aunty Kora ended a story and the moko wanted another story. Aunty kora said go to bed so one of them went to bed and one stayed and the story was about Nanny Kora saving the planet.

Firstly some kids came to the skate park and tried some tricks.Then they had some lolly's and dumped the rubbish on the ground and left.Next the aliens came and dumped their rubbish from their planet(trash planet).They also left the robot there.

When the kids came back to the skate park they found the robot and got the robot to call the aliens because they saw the rubbish the aliens dumped.The aliens talked with the kids but the aliens left without their rubbish.

After that the kids went to talk with Nanny Kaura and told her about the aliens.Nanny Kaura said to call the aliens and she would talk to them.When the aliens came they thought that Nanny koura was their queen so the aliens obeyed the commands and the skate park was clean again.

The kids finished with a tidy up song then we went back to school.

Speeches

 This term we were doing speeches my speech was about there should be more than one winner.I have put it in to read.I really liked it because I believed my argument that meant I was able to say it without being scared. Here it is.

1	Have you ever been so close to a gold medal that you were half a point off and you wish there could be more than one winner. Well today I’m going to tell you why I believe there should be more than one winner. I will convince you,Well I hope
2	First off,  I think it would make it more fair if two people or more were winners, especially if they were both tied together on the same points or at the same level. Did you see the Olympic men's high jump final? Both those guys were tied at the same height - Instead of a jump off to find the winner, one of them went up and asked if they could share the gold medal. They both ended up getting a gold medal each. How cool is that?
3	Another reason is that it will make you work harder because you know there are more chances to win. I think it would be more amazing when there are more chances.Would you work harder if you knew there were more chances to win? I know I would.
4	Lastly, if you know you have a better chance of winning you get more motivated and when you win, you know you deserved it, instead of being a close 2nd and feeling like you didn’t do as well. I feel bummed when I lose a close competition.
5	When you win you can also celebrate it with other people who win with you. It feels nice because you don’t feel bad for the 2nd and 3rd place competitors. Sometimes the 2nd gets angry at the 1st because they beat them when they are so close. If there were more winners no one would get angry or sad.
6	Everyone  is capable of winning but usually only one person wins. There are lots of athletes who really want to win. I really want the other hard workers to win as well as the first winner.The first winner is still great but I want everyone to have a chance to win. Everyone deserves the win because they work so hard(training many hours a day).
7	In conclusion I really want there to be more than one winner. There are probably so many close wins but only one person wins. Thank you for listening. I will end with a winning joke. Why do pancakes always win at baseball? Wait,Because they have the best batter.

First SPaG of the term, We were learning about modality words.We put as many of the high modality words in a word cloud.Modality words like I know,Must and definitely are high modality words.There are also medium and low modality words.You use modality words in sentences like this is the low modality version, I will try be at school and the high version is I will be at school.I know I will use this in my writing.

Enviroschools day

 

On the 28th of september our whole class went on a walk up the hill. We were going up there to see where the hamanatua stream started. When I saw who muddy it was I regretted just wearing sneakers. The road was ok to walk on but through the first gate we had to walk down a muddy hill. First we had to jump over hamanatua to keep walking. There was luckily a piece of wood that you could walk and jump to the other side.

Some people barely made it and some people just walked through. One more person then me. "I can  do this" I said to myself. Weee, over I went and I made it. Some Else fully face planted into the water and got fully wet.We started to walk and some people got muddy shoes because there were some puddles. We got to our first food stop and had morning tea. There were wasps were I was sitting so I moved.

On a bit more there was a lot of clay it all sticked on my shoes.I had to jump over lots of puddle. Someone lost their shoe in the mud.We got to the end of our walk and had lunch. After lunch we had to go all the way back through everything. When we got back to school we got told we were a GREEN GOLD SCHOOL!  

Lockdown

 "Ehh" Why do we have to go to your mountain biking meeting.I said. Ba ding went mums phone.The message was from dad.Grab some milk & bread covid case in auckland.So mum went to the supermarket and grabbed not just milk & bread she grabbed lots of things.Then off we went to GisInt. When we got there we were so early so we just sat in the car and waited.Finally Mum could go into the metting. Me and my brother just sat in the car and played games.

When Mum came back we got the bad news.The bad news was it was going to be level 4 lockdown.That meant learning online and a whole lot of fun.The first day of lockdown we had to dock our early's at home.The next day we did the same thing docking.My first creation I did was make what I call mood swings and this is me halfway there.

This is it when it was done.

And that was the start of lockdown.

"El3 spag time" shoughted Koka Pip. I rushed like a lightning bolt breaking out of the craziness down to the mat. When I got to the mat I went to Koka Pips page on our class site to see what we were doing. Yay its murder mystery at the orchestra.

Koka pip read about what happened at a show. Next she gave the instructions about what we were doing today. We were trying to make a hexagon matching up all the words to there opposite to thereself.That type of words are called antonyms. My group was with Besty,Lila and Me. The workshop was long figuring out our first clue.Finally we were nearly there.

Next we only had to do 5 more matches.First of our last 5 was modern so we tried to find ancient. Finally we found it and put them together.Now it was up to the last match. We would have to find possible for impossible. There it was sitting there,Yay we found the clue.That day was so good. 

Olympics

"Woohoo the olympics are on."I shouted.I had been waiting for ages. An idea sparked into my head like I had been shocked. Record everything, because school was today!Suddenly I sprinted so fast air was blowing in my face. 

When I got to school we were doing a olympic booklet. I knew because it was written on the task tracker. The olympic booklet had about 19 activities.My first one was questions about the whole olympics.Here are two of the questions.What is the olympic motto?Who was the famous NZ runner who won a gold medal in 1964?

Matiriki

 Today I had  a reading workshop after my math workshop. In my reading workshop we had to compare information within & between texts.I straight away went to my  goal sheet and marked it off. Then we had to do a venn diagram with to Matariki texts . First we read the first then the second. When we finished reading we wrote in  our venn diagram. I will show you the venn diagram and the second text.

It was strand and we had to watch a video to see what we were doing for our workshop.We all listened in and I had already saw a google drawing about oranges. If you don't know why its called oranges this is why. It's because we listened to a book called Mr Archimedes bath and he didn't know why his bath water always raised and overflowed. We were asked to write what Capacity,Weight,Mass,Width and volume means on a sticky note. We then all stuck them up on the whiteboard.The next week we had to see how many pips there were in a orange.We said there was 8 pips in two oranges.Now up to this week we had to write what we thought the Capacity,Weight,Mass,Width and Volume.I wrote.

It was L3 number the only workshop in the day.We had to use a strategy to solve questions we didn't know.E.g 8x14. I made a screencastify to show you how solve a questions like the example.I only put up two questions on the slide,so here it is.

It was the end of my sisters friends birthday and we got to play on the best playground ever.

First thing I did was go on the flying fox. I even standed up going down. When I hit the end and swung back I nearly feel off.Next down the huge slide. I first had to climb up lots of stairs.Finally I got there but still had to wait because people were already going down.When I went down I nearly wanted to scream it was so fast.

Lastly I went on the swings. When I started it was only about 10 swings then I was really high.Then I heard the breaking news that I had to go home. I was so sad about that but it was still the best playground iv'e ever been on.

Today I was so excited because a great author was coming he was called Martin and his boss Anne. I saw them setting up in the hall when we were doing rhythmical,it looked so weird I didn't know what we were doing.I didn't tell anyone about it. We all lined up after morning tea and walked to the hall.I sat in the middle because that was a great view.He started with drawing someone.He picked a boy from wai syndicate.He made the boy funny by making him a carrot.Next he told us what the next topic would be. This time it was from a movie.Then he choose another person to draw. He choose a girl from Moana syndicate.Her drawing was the white rabbit of alice and a wonder land.

Next we listened to a story that he read about Anne doing this big walk through the desert, then drew a picture of what she heard when she slept in the desert, it was a weird dinosaur that kept farting.The dinosaur left a little bit of gas.The picture really creative.

Last but not least winter the white bear.We all watched a trailer about it.When it was done I was so sad. When they left I even more sad.The day was then boring.

The poster below is about kawa of care.We had 30 minutes  to choose what our kawa of care poster was about and we had to make our poster to high standards in the 30 minutes.My buddy and Me made the poster about how do we work on our chromebooks. We finished it and then shared it with everyone. We got our poster put up straight away on the line.

This slide is about our week 7 and all the days a in it.  Week 7 was the best week yet we got to do lots of fun stuff.When the year sixes were away we had lots of room on the mat and when we played inilation there were lots of balls to use.

Lets start the challenge. Betsy planned our recipe but I wasn't there that day. When I got to school and sore the recipe I thought some things weren't that good but I didn't want to tell her that. We started planning and finally  made up a name and it was Berry Breeze. Our picture turned out great when we finished it all colored and permanent markered.Our idea for our picture was that we had all of the fruit around the outside and a cup in the middle.

It was the day of smoothie making we we going second and I was really scared.All our ingredients were out on a plate finally its our turn.Ready set go we first introduced ourselves and started making our smoothie. When we  blended it, it went the color we thought it was going to turn out.When we tasted it I thought it was really good but it had chunks of almonds in the bottom of the cup

    

The big earthquake

It was thursday night my room was dark and my bed was shaking, when would it stop.  After that I couldn't get back to sleep because I was thinking about what the rumble was as well as being scared.  In the morning I got ready to go to school wondering how many people would be there. Actually there were only 6 people away.

It was time to announce the house captains I was so nervous to hear the house captains . But right before we were going to watch it Koka Rozie got a civil defence warning about the earthquake. So she went to Koka Nolian to check. When she came back and asked us to line up outside in 2 lines. When she said that I think everyone got a little scared.  We just went to the poles and had a talk about the earthquake and what we would do.

We went back to class after and did the house captains. Some people got picked up until only 16 people were left.  It was fun with only 16 people because we got to play lots.  In the time as well I finished my digital art. We got to play new games I have never played before. We got to swim in Nga Ngaru's swim time. 

It was a good day even with all the drama. I finally got picked up at the end of the day. We went to cricket training.  It was safe at cricket.  At home I wasn't scared any more.

Back at school

Yay I'm in moana learning hub this year.  I have all my friends in my class as well. First day was super fun, we got to play a game and know each other. In week 2 , were walking our pepeha. First we walked to Hamanatua.  The day after we walked up Maungaroa, it was a tough walk. Yay, first assembly of the year. 

Who do you think will get the certificate? Its Dune and Neko. Kai pai.  Assembly was long but I did get a shine card at least. Finally it was brain break. It was weird sitting somewhere else on the deck. Wow how come we do art first in the year?  I think it's time to get started on work.  Art was fun, we did a piece called mandala. 

Lets  get up to where we are now. I've finished all my art and learnt lots and got

 buzz groups. We went to the to Te poho o rawiri to finish our pepeha walk and learn stories that Aunty Buba said and that's all from me.
