Kapa Haka Festival
"I've got your black shorts" Mum shouted. I'll get in the car ok Mum. Yes. Angus Mum and Me all jumped into the car off we went. When we got to school I put my bag away and got dressed into my dress. Over to the hall I went. We got our moko on then our photo. After that black lipstick.
When we were finished we got all the front row girls feather with a feather that was me as well. I didn't get a ear ring but most of the other girls did that were in the 1st row. 8:55 the bell rang we went inside. Our class did the roll then karakia. 9:10 on the bus we got on the bus with room one. Now the actual kapa haka. The bus was so bumpy like a earthquake. We got there and the fronts rows got there pei pei on. We did a practice before the real one phew. 10:10 into the backstage we went.
It was 5 minutes then our turn on stage. Everyone in the crowd started cheering for us. First up E te ariki, we were so loud all in a group. Utaina was next that was the transition. I did fine doing the transition .The transition is like cars passing each other because we didn't hit together. When the boys were doing the utaina haka the ground rumbled like a giant snoring. When we did our poi it looked like a snowball flying through the air.
After Wainui e we walked off the stage. There were 2 schools then wai and nui. It was annoying because the school before wai and nui had to say what the song was and what it meant.Wai and Nui s turn, when they came on the stairs they rumbled as well. Finally our turn to sing with them. The whole school was so loud it echoed in the room that made it sounded even louder.
Now the day was nearly over, we went outside and took photos. The time is now bus time I thought. I sat with Dillyn and Bay the way back. When we got to school it was a long lunch. Finally we got a time to think about our kapa haka. After lunch we watched the kapa haka videos. The day is now over I go home and relax.
